Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, the premium mid-range smartphone from the Chinese brand, will go on sale today at 12 PM. The smartphone will be available for purchase from Mi.com as well as Flipkart. Since its launch in March, the smartphone has emerged as one of the popular devices in the sub-Rs 20,000 price segment but supplies have been limited.
To recall, the Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched in March alongside the Redmi Note 5 as the successor to last year’s Redmi Note 4. Xiaomi confirmed that it sold over 9 million units of Redmi Note 4 in 2017 making it one of the best-selling devices last year and with two models, the company is making the segment even more diverse. The Redmi Note 5 Pro differs from Redmi Note 5 mainly in terms of faster processor and dual rear camera setup.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro starts at Rs 14,999 for the base model with 4GB RAM while the premium model with 6GB RAM is priced at Rs 16,999. During today’s sale, the Redmi Note 5 Pro will be available with no cost EMI options from leading banks. Those buying the smartphone are also eligible for Rs 2,200 instant cashback and additional data from Reliance Jio. The smartphone can also be purchased using cash on delivery option during the sale.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is arguably one of the most powerful smartphone in the sub-Rs 20,000 price segment. It features a modern design language with aluminum unibody casing and thinner bezels surrounding the display. The smartphone sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and taller 18:9 aspect ratio.
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset coupled with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB standard storage. It also gets dual rear camera setup comprising of a 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel image sensors. At the front, there is a 20-megapixel selfie shooter with dedicated LED flash. While it has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, the Redmi Note 5 Pro also supports face unlock.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro is currently running MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat but the company has confirmed that new MIUI 9 based on Android Oreo will be released for the smartphone on June 29. It is backed by a 4,000mAh battery and can be picked up in black, gold, rose gold and lake blue colors.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched at a starting price of Rs 13,999 but received a price hike of Rs 1,000 due to hike in import duty of components. This year, the smartphone is also facing stiff competition from Oppo’s Realme 1 and Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, which offers competitive features at a discounted price.
