Ferries will leave Manhattan beginning at 9:30 am. Shuttles will leave Newport Shopping Centre and the Liberty State Park Light Rail Station beginning at 9:45 am.
Wednesday afternoon just before 6 p.m., a storm came through Jersey City and impacted Liberty National Golf Club, site of this week’s THE NORTHERN TRUST. The course closed down for the day at 5 p.m. due to inclement weather, by which time all players came off the course and fans had departed. However, wind and rain have caused enough damage that segments of the tournament infrastructure and hospitality venues require minor maintenance resulting in the delay of gates being opened to all ticket holders.
Round one tee times will remain on schedule as the course and all player areas are competition-ready. Gates will now open to the public at 10:00 a.m. instead of 7:00 a.m. as originally scheduled for round one.
“We’re an outdoor sport, so Mother Nature is bound to show up and change our well-laid plans on occasion,” said THE NORTHERN TRUST Executive Director Julie Tyson. “We’re grateful that no one was injured and that damage was cosmetic and replaced. We look forward to welcoming the world’s best players – and all of the fans who have been waiting for this event all year long – to the kickoff of the FedExCup Playoffs tomorrow. We couldn’t be more excited about the favorable forecast the rest of the week and can’t wait to see everyone here.”
