Starring John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Pulkit Samrat, Ileana D’Cruz, Urvashi Rautela, Kriti Kharbanda and Saurabh Shukla, Pagalpanti releases in theaters today. The comedy film is directed by Anees Bazmee, who is known for helming films like Welcome, No Entry and Singh Is Kinng among more.
With the large ensemble cast, the film is expected to open well at the box office. As per trade analyst Girish Johar, the film could earn Rs 9-10 crore on its opening day.
Earlier, John Abraham told PTI, “I enjoy doing comedy films and it has worked for me as well. It is the toughest genre to make in the business, it is very difficult to make people laugh.”
John Abraham has appeared in comedies like Garam Masala and Welcome Back but is primarily known as an action star.
He added, “There is space for all kinds of film and I want to do all kinds of film. I have been dying to do a comedy. Films like Housefull 4, Total Dhamaal came with negative criticism but look at the numbers they have done. My point is families have enjoyed these films. And I want to do films that are enjoyed by the family audience. There will be criticism, one has to accept it and get on to the next film.”
Anil Kapoor is known for his comic roles in films like No Entry and Welcome among more and returns to entertain his audience with Pagalpanti. He earlier told PTI, “An actor doing comedy must remember to always work with good co-actors, a director who has good comic sense, a writer who writes good comedy screenplay. Once you choose a script, you’ve to make sure that the character looks new.”

After Mubarakan people from the industry told me they were surprised to see me in the film and said they didn’t expect me to be also good in it. It’s a challenge to surprise people so I like to put myself in situations where even I don’t know if I can pull it off.”
